Look and Feel Rejuvenated with Micro-Needling

One of the most effective ways to stimulate healthier skin growth is by promoting healing. The body naturally heals itself when the skin is affected in a certain way. For example, new skin tissue is produced when a cut or scrape occurs. On the face, an entire region can be affected in a way that encourages more youthful skin. This process is called micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy. It is performed using a pen-like instrument with tiny needles that create channel wounds in the skin. If this sounds at all scary, let us put you at ease. Countless thousands of individuals have benefited from this simple and safe cosmetic procedure.

How Micro-Needling Produces Healthy Skin

The microscopic needles on the micro-needling device puncture through all of the skin layers. The adjacent tissues are not affected, but they do play a role in skin replacement. The effect of drawn-in blood, platelets and the DNA of the surrounding tissue is to build up new skin layers to replace that which was bored out by the needle.

If a region of skin surface the size of a quarter is subjected to micro-needling, the result will be smoother skin over this area. The process of micro-needling takes only about 20 minutes, and the regrowth takes a couple of months. In fact, a small region on the face may be treated multiple times over the course of three or four months. The more the process is repeated, the stronger and suppler the skin becomes.

How We Perform the Procedure

When we schedule a consultation, we examine the face and decide a course of treatment. During the procedure, the pen is calibrated by using a control that determines the depth to which the needles penetrate. Don’t worry; the face won’t look as if it has been attacked by a porcupine. The skin regrowth is slow but steady, and depending on the severity of the wrinkling, we may schedule up to four treatment sessions.

Collagen production also increases over the next few months. This is the primary goal of micro-needling. Increased collagen means smoother, suppler and more evenly toned skin.

Is Micro-Needling What You Need?

It all depends on what the skin on your face is like, how brittle it is, how deep the wrinkles are and if the skin has other discolorations or scarring. Let the experts at Youthtopia Med Spa in Alpharetta help you decide by sitting down with you and informing you about the entire micro-needling procedure. You can look and feel rejuvenated without the need for invasive surgery or skin repositioning treatments. Contact us today to schedule your appointment to learn more.
